The Central Victorian Regional Insect Collection was first established around 1956. Numerous specimens from many areas throughout the region have been collected over the years by staff, students and researchers in order to build up a representation of the entomological fauna of Central Victoria. The collection is available to researchers, students and the general public by appointment.

Collection of Dr Russell Wilkinson dated back to 1956 with specimens collected from the Perry's Lakes area of Perth. The collection was donated to the C.V.R.I.C after Dr Wilkinsons death in 2019 by his wife.
