Assorted Insects of Diggers Rest - Part 1
Recently we moved onto 180 acres approximately ten minutes out of Sunbury at the back of Diggers Rest , I've already had a bit of success catching some specimans and the season is still early .
Photos 1-3 :- I believe this is a Beetle of the Ecnolagria sp. .... approximately 20mm in length .
Photo 4 :- Some Spitfires on the ground moving from one tree to another .
Photos 5-7 :- A Carcass Beetle ( Ptomaphilia lacrymosa ) found under a dead bird .
Photos 8-13 :- I spotted this fly on the wall out the back in the BBQ area and thought it didn't look like a normal Blowfly , after i got it under the microscope i confirmed my suspicions ..... it has unusual markings on its abdomen and a proboscis more like a March Fly , the appendages sticking out at right angles half way up are particularly interesting and if you look closely you'll see it has 3 blood mites on it as well .
Photos 14-16 :- This Devil's Coach Horse (Creophilus erythrocephalus) was with the Carcass Beetles .
Photos 17&18 :- Unidentified Fly ... Tephritis sp.

Photo 42 :- Eucalyptus Leaf Beetle .
Photo 43 :- Scarab Beetle .
Photo 44 :- Juvenile Katydid .
