The Huhu Beetle (Prionoplus reticularis) is a fairly common insect in New Zealand and is a member of the Cerambycidae family . The adults come to outside lights and the grubs turn up in your firewood . The Maori people have been eating them for centuries and call them "tunga haere" . The adults are also called Haircut Beetles because if one gets in your hair you frequently have to cut it out.
Found this in NZ on my recent trip (14/11/22)
