Assassin Bugs (Hemiptera) was created by Trevor Glyn-Jones
Back around 2000 i caught an Assassin Bug about 25mm long and i was carrying it back to the car in my hand as i had filled the container's i had with me (big mistake). It had enough of this after about 5 mins so it drove it's proboscis ( or Rostrum) into one of my fingers . The instant pain caused me to throw it on the ground , then the following throbbing continued for some hours . I had to empty a container so i could recapture it . I was left with a black mark on my hand that resembled a deep blood blister for about 4 months . These creatures definitely deserve their reputation as formidable predators . The one photographed is a lot smaller but it clearly shows how large the proboscis is in relation to its head .

Found a couple of Assassin Bugs in the Wombat State Forest 6/4/22 .
