I noticed this ant struggling to walk up a tree in the Wombat State Forest (6/4/22) , I caught it and it wasn't until I got it home I realised it was missing a rear leg , then after I put it under the microscope I realised it was missing one antenna , so far I haven't been able to identify it , if anyone has any ideas please let me know . (6 photos)
On the 15/4/22 i found a 2nd ant , a bit smaller this time but intact , on the same large gum tree . Since then i haven't been able to find any more (1 photo).
Thanks to Bert and Jonathan i now know that it is a Dolichoderus doriae , not extremely rare but not exactly common either .
