=12.0pt**Please distribute to any potential contractors that may be interested in submitting bids for these contracts.**=12.0pt =12.0ptThe National Museum of Natural History Department of Entomology is seeking a contractor to complete Phase 2 of a full recuration project on the leafhopper (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) collection. The estimated duration of each contract will be 52 weeks (2080 hours). This work must be conducted onsite at the NMNH in Washington, DC. Please refer to the attached PDF containing the Request for Quote (RFQ), Statement of Work (SOW), and relevant attachments for more details and instructions on how to generate and submit a bid for this contract. =12.0pt =12.0ptProject Overview:=12.0pt =12.0ptThe Cicadellidae (or leafhopper) collection at NMNH is one of the world’s largest. Cicadellidae is one of the 10 largest families of insects, containing over 22,000 described species, and is estimated to include over 100,000 extant species. Based on the index of the main collection completed in Phase I of this project, the collection contains about 465,000 specimens and 7,062 identified taxa which are placed in 1,022 drawers and 48 cabinets. Many changes to the classification and nomenclature of Cicadellidae have taken place over the past 20 years, and the higher-level classification has now stabilized. These changes need to be incorporated into the collection to maintain a modern classification and organization which will allow for more accurate identifications, greater efficiency of taxonomic research, and more discoveries to be made. =12.0ptPhase II will consist of the following tasks: 1) create and apply new header labels to unit trays (80% completed from Year 1); 2) reorganize the entire collection of unit trays and drawers to reflect the current classification; and 3) create and apply new labels to all 1000+ drawers and 48 cabinets. =12.0ptProject oversight by NMNH staff will include the Entomology Collections Manager Floyd Shockley to serve as the COTR for the contract and day-to-day activities will be supervised by USDA APHIS staff member and Curator of Hemiptera Jamie Zahniser. =12.0pt =12.0ptAll bids must be submitted by 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024. Follow the format set forth in section 4 of the attached Requests for Quote (RFQ) below “Information to be submitted with quotes.”  Make sure that you address each item fully in your bid submission. It's important to note that interested parties must be registered federal contractors in the System for Award Management (SAM) to respond to this RFQ. There are no benefits, tax or social security withholding associated with this contract. The contractor must pass a background investigation before work can begin.
