Assistant Professor in Entomology =14pxThe Department of Entomology at the University of California invites applicants for an Assistant Professor and Assistant Entomologist =14pxto develop an innovative research program in systematics, which fits with the existing strengths of the Department and the general mission of the agricultural experiment station. This 9-month, tenure-track position will be available starting July 1, 2027. The successful candidate must have strong training and experience with systematic methods and phylogenetic/phylogenomic methods applicable to the study of insects, mites or spiders, with an emphasis on understanding the associated evolutionary patterns of biodiversity, behavior, ecology and/or distribution. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in the systematics of insects, mites or spiders with a program of research in accordance with Department and College strengths in agricultural entomology, biological control, evolution, and conservation biology. It is expected that the successful individual will build a strong fundable independent research program and develop cooperative research with other faculty in the Department and College. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in systematics and may include other courses in their area of expertise. The candidate will also be expected to supervise the training of graduate and undergraduate students and participate in departmental and university service obligations.
