About Bugs Alive: Bugs Alive operates Cairns’ only commercial insect production facility, supplying crickets, woodies, Dubia roaches and Black Soldier Fly larvae to Australia’s live and packaged pet food markets.We are seeking a reliable Insect Production Attendant to support day-to-day farm operations within our climate-controlled production rooms.This role suits someone looking for consistent local part-time work, including semi-retired applicants or those wanting flexible hours close to home. This is hands-on role is not an office job, and suits someone practical, reliable and comfortable working independently.

Key Duties: 
 • Feeding insects and preparing feed
• Breeding, harvesting, drying and packing insects
• Cleaning and general production tasks
• Packing and dispatching website orders
• Occasional deliveries
• General production assistance as requiredThe preferred candidate may also assist with sales and marketing support, including social media posting and customer engagement under management direction.

About You: 
 We are seeking someone looking for stable, long-term employment, not short-term or seasonal work. Training takes time, so we are looking for someone intending to stay and grow with the business.You will have:
• Ability to follow procedures with strong attention to detail
• Good problem-solving skills and practical common sense
• Ability to work independently once trained
• Comfort handling live insects
• Good reading, writing and computer skills
• Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
• Physical capability for lifting and handling duties (up to 20kg occasionally)

Important to Know: Casual role currently requiring:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings, approximately 2–4 hours per shift (9–16 hours per week) with flexible start times.Hours are expected to increase as the business grows, with additional opportunities for capable staff.Must have the right to work in Australia on an ongoing basis. Applicants seeking short-term or seasonal work are unlikely to suit this role.Due to limited hours, this role suits applicants living locally on Cairns’ Southside.
