About the Role:
The Entomology Graduate is responsible for breeding beneficial insects, organising and executing releases, monitoring crop health, and developing protocols to enhance our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program as directed by the Agronomy Manager. The Entomology Graduate works closely with the Agronomy Manager and Orchard Managers breed beneficial insects and monitor tree development, phenology, pests, diseases, growth, and yield.

Duties:
Maintain and optimise colonies of beneficial insects.

Develop and refine breeding protocols to ensure high-quality insect production.

Monitor crop to agreed protocols.

Record and analyse data on insect production, survival rates, and effectiveness.

Plan and execute scheduled releases of beneficial insects in crops.

Develop release protocols (timing, rates, methods) based on pest pressure and crop growth stages.

Conduct regular field scouting to assess pest populations and crop damage.

Accurately identify insect pests and beneficial species using morphological techniques.

Monitor the effectiveness of released beneficial insects and adjust strategies as needed.

Assist in designing and implementing experimental trials to improve insect rearing and release methods.

Prepare reports on insectary production, field releases, and pest monitoring results.

Knowledge of insect identification (pests & beneficials).

Contribute to trial review and design in consultation with the Technical Manager.

Establish trials to agreed protocols.

Literature review.

Implement new technologies to improve performance.
